Commish's Quiz

This month the "Quiz Master" is working with MCCS Officers on the Commissioner Orientation section of the agenda.

Commission Members who find the answer(s) should: email the correct response before Noon Thursday, 11/16/06! Send your answers to Service.Commission@maine.gov. All correct answers will be well rewarded at the meeting.

This month's quiz

Since many Commissioners will be involved in votes on new or continuation grants for the first time in January 2007, this month's quiz relates to the CNCS Conflict of Interest Regulations. This document is in the Commissioner reference section of the work space (log in and scan the list).

Question 1: True or False?

1. Without regard to time that may have passed, a Commissioner has a conflict of interest if he or she helped start or develop a program that is applying for funding from MCCS.

Question 2: Which of the following are correct?

A Commission member with a conflict of interest related to a grantee or grant applicant, may not participate in...

#1   any discussions or decisions about the funding or approving education
awards to any program or entity funded under the same funding category;

#2  any discussions or decisions about funding or providing education awards to that specific program;

#3  continuation of funding or education awards to any such program or entity funded under the same funding category; and

#4 participating in the oversight, evaluation, continuation, suspension, or termination of any grant under the same funding category.
