Photo Contest Announced

Enter the photo contest and join us in celebrating volunteerism in the Maine! The “Volunteers in Action” photo contest invites individuals to submit a photo depicting volunteers serving the community. Entries are due by March 17, 2010.  Winning entries and honorable mentions will be displayed at the State House during the Governor's Volunteer Service Awards.

AmeriCorps Planning Grant Competition

The Commission has opened a call for proposals from new organizations that wish to develop an idea for an AmeriCorps program. Details are available on our Grants Page.

We need your expertise! The Governor's Volunteer Service Awards program is  administered jointly by the Maine Commission for Community Service and the Governor’s Office and recognizes and honors the valuable contributions of Maine’s extraordinary volunteers while inspiring others to follow their example. Awards will be presented at a special ceremony at the State House on April 22, 2010. Nominations will be reviewed in late February. Nominators and award recipients will be notified of selection decisions in March 2010.
