MCCS Commissioner and Staff Attend National Conference

Those attending include: Board Chair Peter Taylor of Belfast, Vice Chair Paula Gagnon of Kennebunkport, Secretary Judi Stebbins of Winthrop, Program Office Anne Schink of South Portland and Public Relations Representative Kim Goding of Mexico, ME.

The national ASC conference is a cadre of over 200 dedicated state service commissioners, Executive Directors and staff who meet annually to discuss volunteerism and attend training sessions specific to the area of community service program management and recruitment. Participants attended a series of training seminars in which they were offered on-line resource materials, risk and crisis management training, assistance in promoting volunteerism through partnerships and instructed on promoting the sustainability of service programs.

The Commission for Community Service consists of 26 board members that are charged with fostering community service and volunteer initiatives for the State of Maine. It is the primary liaison in Maine for the Federal Corporation for National and Community Service and administers the AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve and Senior Corps programs throughout the state.
