GOVERNOR AND SECRETARY GWADOWSKY SPEAK AT BLAINE HOUSE CONFERENCE ON VOLUNTEER SERVICE

?Maine?s reputation as a place where citizens are involved, meeting their civic responsibilities, and concerned about their neighbors is one that others envy,? Governor Baldacci remarked, ?That good fortune needs to be nurtured.? Baldacci spoke about the importance of volunteerism in Maine and the impact community service has on Maine?s communities.

In addition to the Governor?s attendance, Secretary of State Dan Gwadowsky and Representative Bill Earle presented a workshop titled ?Balancing Act: How to be an educational resource for public officials.? Secretary Gwadowsky also presided over the oath ceremony of 20 of Maine?s AmeriCorps members. Representatives from Maine?s Congressional delegation were also in attendance to make statements on behalf of their leaders.
