Early Bird Registration extended until October 8th for the Blaine House Conference on Volunteerism.
October 2nd, 2008
The Blaine House Conference on Volunteerism is the only professional development conference tailored exclusively to the needs and challenges of leaders in the state’s volunteer sector. It provides learning and networking opportunities for Maine’s volunteer administrators and program managers. This year’s conference will be held at the University of Maine’s Orono campus on Tuesday, October 14th.
The Conference will sponsor a seminar focusing on the legal and economic impact of volunteers, a series of workshops on the planning and risk management aspects of engaging volunteers in community work, accommodating volunteers with disabilities, working with volunteers of differing generations, and more.
The cost to attend is $75. Early Bird Registration has been extended until October 8th. Individuals that supervise Senior Companion, Foster Grandparent, VISTA, RSVP, or AmeriCorps volunteers are eligible to receive a $50 scholarship. There are many opportunities to save money while taking advantage of this professional development opportunity. Please visit www.VolunteerMaine.org to find out more.
Time Warner Cable, the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Maine Commission for Community Service, a state agency that works to build capacity and sustainability in Maine's volunteer sector, are sponsoring the event.
