Maine AmeriCorps*State Grant Competition Opens

The Maine Commission for Community Service solicits proposals for AmeriCorps grants. AmeriCorps is a national service program, which engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in team-based community service to meet critical needs in the areas of Public Safety, Education, Disaster Services, Environment, and Human Needs. Eligible applicants include: private or public non-profit organizations, state/local government, Native American Tribal governments, and institutions of higher education.
Applications will be accepted in 2 categories: State Formula Operating and State Formula Planning. All are described in the Request for Proposal and application instructions. Grant funds support AmeriCorps members’ service or prepare program for future AmeriCorps Grant competitions and require local matches (combination of cash and in-kind).
Typical grants range from $20,000 to $252,000 depending on the category. Each category is described in the RFP.
All proposals must be submitted electronically using the federal eGrants systems and copies of required attachments received for opening by the Division of Purchases no later than 2:00 p.m. EST on Friday, April 24, 2009.Copies of the “Request for Proposals” are available on the Commission\'s web site:
