Maine Conservation Corps Member Invited to Attend Natural Leaders Summit

June 4th, 2009

Augusta- Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) environmental educator Rebecca Martin has been selected to attend the Natural Leaders Summit June 5-7 in San Francisco, CA.  Martin is currently serving as an AmeriCorps member with the MCC at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Augusta Lakes & Watersheds.

The Natural Leaders Network (NLN) invited youth leaders focused on getting kids outdoors to apply to attend this 3-day strategic planning and leadership development event.  Martin was one of only 30 individuals selected by a diverse panel representing youth, education, government and academia.

When she returns to Maine after the summit, Martin plans to do a presentation to the MCC’s other environmental educators about what she learned and how they can incorporate those skills into teaching children and encouraging them to spend more time outside.
