Nominations are being accepted for the 23rd Annual Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards.  Nomination deadline is February, 16, 2010.

The Governor’s Service Awards were created in 1988 as a way to recognize volunteerism in Maine. For the past twenty-two years, this award has celebrated and recognized the exemplary work and invaluable contributions of Maine’s extraordinary volunteers. 

This award program, administered jointly with the Maine Commission for Community Service and the Governor’s Office, aims to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of Maine’s extraordinary volunteers while inspiring others to follow their example.

 Categories include:

· Volunteer of the Year
· Youth Volunteer of the Year
· Small Business Volunteerism Award
· Outstanding Non-Profit Award
· Corporate Volunteerism Award
· Outstanding Public Sector Volunteer
· Excellence in Volunteer Administration
· National Service Volunteer Award
· Roll of Honor
