Request for Proposals (RFP201002598) Funds Available for Maine AmeriCorps Program Planning Grants

The Maine Commission for Community Service solicits proposals to support future new AmeriCorps program applicants as they undertake the planning required to move a sound program concept through development to the point it is ready for implementation. Planning Grant funds may not be used to support AmeriCorps members or supplement operations of an existing program.

AmeriCorps is a national service program, which engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in team-based community service to meet critical local needs. Funding priorities in this competition are identified in the RFP document and there is a special focus on proposals from Aroostook, Franklin, Hancock, Kennebec,Oxford,Penobscot, Waldo, or Washington counties.

Eligible applicants include  private or public non-profit organizations, state/local government, Native American Tribal governments, and institutions of higher education that have never received grant funding to operate an AmeriCorps*State/National program. Typical grants range from $12,000 to $30,000 depending on the length of time proposed by the applicant (6 – 12 months). 

All proposals must be submitted electronically using the federal eGrants system and copies of required attachments received for opening by the Division of Purchases, Burton Cross Building, 4th Floor, 111 Sewall Street, 9 State House Station, Augusta, Maine 04333-0009.  No later than 2:00 p.m. EST on Friday, April 23, 2010.
