Mary-Anne Beal Elected to Chair of the Maine Commission for Community Service.

STATEWIDE – Mary-Anne Beal was recently elected to the position of Board Chair of the Maine Commission for Community Service. Beal has served on the Commission since 2007 and previously held the positions of board Vice Chair, Chair Elect, and Chair of the Public Information and Education task force. Commissioners are a diverse, bipartisan group of citizens, actively engaged in community service, and represent every region of the state. The mission of the Commission is to foster community service and volunteerism to meet human and environmental needs in the State of Maine.
Mary-Anne Beal is the Executive Director of the Maine State Sheriffs Association and a City Councilor in Waterville. She is an avid volunteer supporting both her community locally and the state as a whole. Her background in community service includes serving on the Maine Youth Leadership Board of directors, serving as the Executive Director for The Giving Tree in Waterville, and as a Trustee for the Waterville Public Library.
The Maine Commission for Community Service builds capacity and sustainability in Maine' s volunteer sector by funding service programs, developing managers of volunteers, raising awareness of the scope and impact of the sector, and encouraging an ethic of service.
