Maine Supreme Court Justice Alexander to Swear In New AmeriCorps Members

Augusta, ME -- The Honorable Justice Donald G. Alexander of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court will be presiding over the annual AmeriCorps Launch Ceremony on Friday, October 6, 2017. In addition to over 100 new AmeriCorps members, other distinguished guests include representatives from all four federal Congressional delegations, this year's National Service Member of the Year, Megan McCue, John Portela, Chair of the Maine Commission for Community Service, AmeriCorps alumni, and friends and family.

Since 1994 more than 6,300 AmeriCorps members have served in Maine. They've committed over 8.9 million hours and have qualified for Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards totaling more than $20,930,000.

This event is part of a nationwide Pledge day with events in every state and territory involving tens of thousands of the AmeriCorps members serving nationally.
