MCCS Announces Request for Proposals for TWO AmeriCorps Grant Competitions

Augusta, ME -- The Maine Commission for Community Service is now accepting proposals for Maine Rural State AmeriCorps Grants and AmeriCorps Standard Formula Grants. The deadline for submission for BOTH grants is May 3, 2018. The link to access a copy of the RFP, as well as the Question & Answer Summary and all amendments related to this RFP, can be found at the bottom of this article.

 

Request for Proposals: Maine Rural State Grant AmeriCorps

The Maine Commission for Community Service solicits proposals for small AmeriCorps programs under the Maine Rural State AmeriCorps grant competition. Programs must be designed to enroll between two and five full-time AmeriCorps members during each of the 3 grant years. Each AmeriCorps member service plan must entail 1700 hours and all must serve within the applicant organization.

AmeriCorps direct service activities permitted include economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship (including housing, energy conservation), disaster services, veterans services, or healthy futures. In addition, proposals selected must commit to engaging local volunteers in the direct service and building internal capacity to engage volunteers. Applications to serve any rural area are welcome; however, there are preference points for proposals from Franklin, Hancock, Oxford, Somerset, Waldo, Aroostook, Knox, Washington, Lincoln, or Piscataquis counties.

Eligible applicants include Maine non-profits, faith-based organizations, State and local units of government, higher education institutions, and county organizations intending to operate an AmeriCorps program within Maine. Applicants may not have been an AmeriCorps grantee. Awards will range from $29,864 for a team of two AmeriCorps members up to $74,660 for a team of five.

All proposals must be submitted using both an internet application system (www.nationalservice.gov/eGrants) and hard copies of attachments. Complete proposals with required attachments must be received for opening by the Division of Procurement Services, Maine Dept. of Administrative and Financial Services, Burton Cross Building, 4th Floor, 111 Sewall Street, Augusta, Maine 04330, no later than 4:00 p.m. local time on May 3, 2018.

The State of Maine reserves the right to reject any or all proposals received.

Request for Proposals: AmeriCorps Standard Formula Grant

The Maine Commission for Community Service solicits proposals for AmeriCorps program operating grants under the AmeriCorps Standard Formula Cost Reimbursement (including Minimum Cost Reimbursement) and Fixed Amount grant programs. Programs must be designed to enroll at least eight AmeriCorps members and use at least 13,600 hours of service during each of the 3 grant years.

Applicants must also propose to implement an evidence-based program model, use standardized performance measures to demonstrate accomplishments, and conduct an overall program evaluation.  Program activities must fall within one of the allowed service areas described in the Request for Proposal.

Eligible applicants include Maine non-profits, faith-based organizations, State and local units of government, higher education institutions, and regional organizations intending to operate an AmeriCorps program solely within Maine. Typical awards for range from $119,456 to $298,640, depending on the number of AmeriCorps positions requested.
