Opportunity to Host AmeriCorps *VISTA Member for Veterans & Military Family Programming
Published November 1, 2011
The Maine VISTA Project is seeking nonprofit organizations and public agency partners to develop or expand community services for veterans and military families. The Maine VISTA Project will offer local programs an opportunity to host a full-time AmeriCorps*VISTA member for one-year starting in February 2012. The local agency will be required to develop a work plan focused on services for veterans and military families. The Maine VISTA Project is particularly interested in services related to health, education, employment, transportation in rural areas, and support to families of active duty military personnel.
AmeriCorps*VISTA is a national service program designed specifically to fight poverty through the capacity-building activities of VISTA members. Visit www.americorps.gov for more information about VISTA, which is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Organizations should expect to operate any programs developed using other resources after two or three years.
