May 2011 Program Officer, Volunteer Sector Initiatives

VOLUNTEER GENERATION FUND

Coordinated quarterly in-person meeting of VGF grantees.

Provided webinar and one-on-one technical assistance to VGF grantees on use of OnCorps, on-line reporting system.

Provided technical assistance to VGF subgrantees on requirements of monthly and quarter reports. 

Assisted Grants Officer with review of periodic expense and income reports and contacted subgrantees as needed for additional information or notification of corrections to be made.

Year 2 continuation application submitted to the Corporation.

PDAT/ADA

Coordinated monthly AmeriCorps Grantee and quarterly National Service & Volunteerism (NSC) Council Meetings.  NSC Council (formerly called Staff Council) was attended by program staff from AmeriCorps State & National, VGF grantees, and Senior Corps.  Meeting included presentation on “Managing Maine Volunteers – A Legal Perspective” by Eileen Buzzello, Maine Commission for Community Service AmeriCorps*VISTA member.

ASC Training & T/A Committee and Professional Development Subcommittee – Developed agenda and facilitated first teleconference meeting of the Professional Development Subcommittee.

Professional Development Fund applications reviewed at May 20, 2011 at Excellence & Expertise Task Force meeting.  Five applications funded for a total amount of $3567.  Year to date amount funded is $4230 

Provided technical assistance to Corporation funded program staff.

Provided information about Corporation funding opportunities to community organizations.

VISTA PROJECTS

Provided technical assistance to Maine VISTA host sites to develop performance measures based on CNCS national performance measures and CNCS State Office milestones.

Reviewed and provided feedback on VISTA host site performance measures and required VISTA milestones.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

With Commission Staff and Volunteers, staffed volunteer reception center at MDI Mass Casualty Exercise in Bar Harbor.
