 This report reflects both June & July activities. June was a short month in the office due to week vacation & participation in out-of-state conference for a week.


Points of Light Institute selected Maine as one of fourteen sites to serve as a National Service Enterprise Model Pilot Site.  Partnership with United Way of York County to implement site project in York County in 2013/2014 to be replicated around the state in 2014.  Participated in Pilot Site Orientation held in after national conference in Washington, DC.

Participated in required technical assistance teleconference calls convened by Points of Light & meet with UWYC volunteer center staff as needed to discuss implementation of Service Enterprise model in Maine.

Attended National Conference on Volunteering & Service in Washington, First Lady Ann LePage participated in panel of First Ladies about the impact of National Service in their states.  Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) CEO facilitated the panel discussion.

Participated in VGF Grantee meeting to discuss technological needs for statewide volunteer management system.

Met with consultant to review final version of on-line novice course based on Competencies for Managers of Volunteer. Began outreach to identify "experts in the field" to provide feedback on course.

Participated in CNCS technical assistance call for Notice of Funding Availability for one year of funding for current CNCS Volunteer Generation Fund grantees.  Applications due Aug 9, 2013. Letter of Intent to Apply submitted & began development of application.

Conducted site visit to United Way of Eastern Maine volunteer center to meet new program staff.

Provided technical assistance to grantees, as needed. 


Facilitated weekly team meetings with VISTA Leaders.

Developed & implemented new recruitment process for Maine VISTA Project. Recruitment for Aug 2013 cohort of new members in full swing.  

Welcomed new VISTA member to the project & Commission.

Conducted outreach follow-up and identified four new VISTA placement sites.

Finished follow-up calls and meetings with VISTA host sites to clarify any issues with continuation applications (for VISTA members starting in Aug 2013).

Participated in VISTA interviews as needed and coordinated selection of new VISTA members by host sites.

Conducted site visit to Southern Maine Agency on Aging.

Participated in End of Service Ceremony for VISTA members ending their terms of service in July/Aug/Sept.  Ceremony at UMA with special guest, Rep. Terry Hayes of Buckfield (VISTA alumni).

Processed CNCS required paperwork for eight new VISTA members who will attend PreService Orientation Aug 5-8 in Boston, MA.

Assisted VISTA Leaders with planning of End of Service Ceremony in July.

Provided technical assistance to host sites & members, as needed.


Participated in MCCS staff meetings and Commission meeting.

Participated in MEMA Donations Coordination Team meetings.

Meet with Director of Campus Compact to discuss areas of collaboration.

Participated in Vigilant Guard planning meeting for multi-agency exercise in November 2013.  Coordinated with Southern Maine COAD regarding potential Volunteer Reception Center exercise in Cumberland County as part of Vigilant Guard exercise.

Provided Volunteer Reception Center training for AmeriCorps program.

Participated in America's Service Commissions' Staff Support Subcommittee teleconference meetings.
