QUESTION: Sagadahoc County is listed as a Rural Classification “1” and the preference is for counties classified as 6-7-8. Do organizations based in Sagadahoc County qualify for this grant?
RESPONSE: As noted on page 8 of the Request for Proposals (I. Who is eligible to apply?), "applicants serving any rural region may submit proposals but preference points will be given to applicants in counties classified as 6, 7, or 8 on the USDA rural-urban continuum." The preference points are part of the Commission Task Force Review 50 points. See page 9 for details under "Task Force Review."
QUESTION: Are there restrictions to co-branding with AmeriCorps? In other words, if a local business provided a cash donation to sponsor costs related to an AmeriCorps member (the grantee portion of the required match) could that business be noted publicly along with AmeriCorps on shirts, materials etc.
RESPONSE: Local partners who contribute to the program to support its mission/goals may be recognized publicly. Typically programs do this on site signage, their website, etc. The AmeriCorps logo on gear has to be the dominant one but it doesn't preclude donor recognition.
QUESTION: Can the program start date be as late as January?
RESPONSE: Possibly. The applicant should clearly explain why a delayed 4 month start is the best for program design and service impact. The January-December program year is typically a difficult design for recruitment and retention.
QUESTION: Please advise what NOFA to select on the egrants site. None seem to match the Rural Americoprs grant RFP.
REVISED RESPONSE: Please refer to page 24, “III. Starting An Application in eGrants.” The bulleted list in the middle of the page will take you through the process step by step. The NOFA for this competition is "2017 AmeriCorps State and Territory Commission." IGNORE the January date that appears. It has nothing to do with this competition and we cannot change it because it is a federal site. Be sure to read all the steps and move through them in order.
