April 2011 Program Officer, Volunteer Sector Initiatives

VOLUNTEER GENERATION FUND
Provided technical assistance to VGF subgrantees on reporting systems and requirements of monthly and quarter reports. VGF subgrantees submitted first program and fiscal reports on April 20, 2011 for the period of Feb 1 – Mar 31, 2011.
Assisted Grants Officer with review of periodic expense and income reports and contacted subgrantees as needed for additional information or notification of corrections to be made.
Assisted with Governor’s Volunteer & Service Awards (April 14, 2011) during National Volunteer Week.
VGF Continuation instructions received April 25 with application due May 17. Started development of continuation application for VGF to the Corporation.
With Grants Officer, provided Fiscal & Reporting Requirements training on April 5, 2011 for subgrantees who were not able to attend the second day of training in Feb 2011. Seven staff representing Volunteer Generation Fund and Learn & Serve subgrantees attended the training.
Participated in National Service Awareness Day, April 5, 2011.
ASC Training & T/A Committee and Professional Development Subcommittee – Conducted outreach to other State Commission Training & Inclusion Officers to participate in subcommittees focusing on: Resource Sharing & Development; Peer-to-Peer Exchange; Professional Development & Technical Assistance; and Partnership Development.
Professional Development Fund applications reviewed at Apr 15, 2011 at Excellence & Expertise Task Force meeting. Two applications funded for a total $633 from the Professional Development Fund. Second cycle established with applications due May 17, 2011.
Participated in Corporation teleconference call on FY2011.
Met with Center for Community Inclusion & Disability Studies to provide feedback on additions to the Core Competencies of Manager of Volunteers to incorporate competencies that are inclusive of people with disabilities.
Provided technical assistance to Corporation funded program staff.
Provided information about Corporation funding opportunities to community organizations.
Conducted outreach for Maine VISTA Project sites focused on education and veterans & military families.
With other Commission staff, reviewed applications and selected VISTAhost sites for the 2011/12 Maine VISTA Project.
Provided technical assistance to Maine VISTA host sites to develop performance measures based on CNCS national performance measures and CNCS State Office milestones.
Reviewed and provided feedback on VISTA host site performance measures and required VISTA milestones.
